Dr. Joan Gandy

Dr. Joan Gandy is a freelance dietitian and researcher based in London, UK. Joan has many years’ experience as a researcher and educator. She is passionate about dietitians generating and using evidence to enhance practice. Joan chaired the BDA’s Research Interest Group and was a member of the BDA’s Research Committee; she was the BDA’s first Research Officer. Joan is a past Editor in Chief of the Journal of Human Nutrition & Dietetics, Editor of the 5th Edition (and forthcoming 6th Edition) of the Manual of Dietetic Practice, published in association with the BDA and co-editor of the Oxford Handbook of Nutrition & Dietetics. Currently her main area of interest is hydration, in particular population surveys of fluid and beverage intake and public health. She is a member of the Liq.In 7 Expert Group and the ILSI (Europe) Expert Group on Adequate Methodologies for Recording Fluid And Water Intake At Population Level.
